Sono Giovanni - Giovanniという名前

How come you call yourself, "Giovanni"?
People often ask me this question.

It is because my birthday is 27th December which is the feast day
for San Giovanni Evangelista.

According to my father, he wanted name me as John but
it is not a common name in Japan.
So then he named me as Jun which sounds very similar to John.

When I was in Europe, I often explained that my name could be
John in England, Jean in France and Giovanni in Italia!

よく、『何で、Giovanniなの？』と尋ねられます。
何故かというと、僕の誕生日が、１２月２７日だから。
その日は、福音記者聖ジョヴァンニの祭日だからなのです。

父いはく、本当は、ジョンと名付けたかったそうですが、
日本では、あまり一般的な名前ではないので、
音が似ている、ジュンにした、ということです。

僕がヨーロッパにいた頃、よく、イギリスではジョン、
フランスではジャン、そしてイタリアではジョヴァンニなのだよ、
と、説明したものです。
